So as to carry forward the spirit of traditional Chinese martial arts and strengthen the physique of contemporary middle school students, Anqing Foreign Language School has been organizing teachers and students to conduct the teaching and training of Chinese martial arts drilling since the beginning of the second semester. On the afternoon of 16th March, on the playground of the east campus, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Department held the 2017 Middle School Students’ Martial Arts Drilling Review to inspect the teaching efficiency as well as display the favorable mental outlook of teachers and students.
In the first place, during the performance, students were all in school uniforms, full of spirit and energy. They held fists on hips and gave a salute when the music was on, flashing palms in empty stance, kicking right ahead in a doubt-footed way in addition to striking forward in bow stance. Evidently, students were quite adept at martial arts, neat and uniform in vigorous and agile gesture& motion, which formed a splendid scenery on the field.
In the second place, this grand event was evaluated in the first, second and third prizes in terms of clothing, entering and exiting the arena, movement displaying as well as exercise quality. Afterwards, Vice Principal Liu Bing announced the list of class winners and the winning classes were awarded certificates of merit in the meantime.
In the third place, Principal Assistant Lu Dan remarked on the competition, quote, ‘The marvelous performance of students presented us a visual feast. The Martial Arts Drilling Contest fully embodied that Anqing Foreign Language School attached great importance to physical work and students’ healthy growth, which was the implementation of the One-Hour Sunshine Sports Program On Campus initiated by the Ministry of Education. We hope that students shall make Anqing Foreign Language School more brilliant in spring featured in red blossoms and green willows in accordance with Anqing Foreign Language School’s spirit of striving for the best ’.
In the fourth place, President Madam Huang Wenli composed a poem: Students were mighty in spirit and heroic bearing during the martial arts competition; Students were refreshed in every gesture and motion; Students from Anqing Foreign Language School were not afraid of hardships; Instead, they overcame all obstacles and lived righteously days.
To sum up, not only did this grand event build up students’ body, but also enabled them to accept the edification of the traditional Chinese martial arts culture, cultivated their strong sense of collective honor and their spirit of solidarity, cooperation and enterprise, which enhanced Anqing Foreign Language School’s cohesion.
